ISTAART FTD PIA

The Alzheimer’s Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment (ISTAART) brings together the worlds Alzheimer’s disease and dementia science community. Members of ISTAART participate in topical professional interest areas (PIA) to share knowledge and insights, drive collaboration and advance research initiatives aimed at identifying effective ways to detect, treat and prevent neurodegenerative dementias.

The Frontotemporal Dementia Professional Interest Area (FTD PIA) formed in 2019 under the initiative of Dr. Yolande Pijnenburg, with Drs. Brad Boeve, Chiadi Onyike and Jonathan Rohrer. The ISTAART FTD PIA has since become an important forum for sharing and collaboration focused on FTD science, and hosts regular symposia and research meetings at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference, as well as research webinars during the year. The PIA has also sponsored collaborations with other PIAs, including those focused on neuroimaging, atypical Alzheimer’s disease syndromes, and Diversity and Disparities.
