Dr. Hidetomo Tanaka is a neuropathologist and a Research Fellow at the Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Disease (CNRD), University of Toronto.
Through training in general internal medicine and neurology, he advanced toward neuropathology, completing specific training and research to obtain a PhD (neuropathology) from Niigata University (Japan). He also holds an Instructor’s license, Board Certified Membership, and the title of councilor from the Japanese Society of Neuropathology.
He has been recognized for his achievements in neuropathological research, receiving the Award of the Japanese Society of Neuropathology twice. In 2022 he joined Dr. Kovacs lab at the University of Toronto as a Research Fellow. His main interest is neurodegenerative diseases and conditions, with a focus on tauopathies.
