About

Dr. Oriol Dols-Icardo obtained a PhD in Biomedicine in 2016. His PhD focused on the study of the genetic overlap in the continuum of frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Dr. Dols-Icardo spent nine months at the Mass General Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases/Harvard Medical School (Boston, Massachusetts) studying neuropathological changes in human brains and completed three months of practical training in bioinformatics in the Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington (Seattle, Washington).

Dr. Dols-Icardo is involved in disentangling the genetic architecture of neurodegenerative diseases. His research focuses on transcriptomics, using high-throughput RNA sequencing technologies to investigate transcriptome-wide changes in the brain and single-cell RNA sequencing to decipher the landscape of peripheral blood immune cell alterations associated with neurodegenerative diseases.
